Toyota Harrier
Despite its design as an SUV, the Harrier is suitable for urban driving as well, thanks to its 12.58 metres turning circle, easy boarding, and high levels of practicality and refinement. It features advanced driving support mechanisms, higher functionality, state of the art safety equipment and ultra-low emissions.
The 2.4-liter 2AZ-FE engine with VVT-i and a long-port intake manifold achieve high torque all the way up to the high revolution range for easy handling and smooth performance. The VVT-i system, which optimizes intake valve timing in line with engine rpm and load, and the Acoustic Control Induction System-V (ACIS-V), which adjusts the length and surface area of the intake system in three stages in line with vehicle operating conditions, ensure high torque at all speeds from low to high and contribute to excellent fuel efficiency. The intelligent AFS improves night time visibility by shifting the headlights left or right in accordance with vehicle speed and steering angle. AFS is only available for GL model.
The Harrier turns into corners very well considering its tall 70-series tyres and it never feels ragged when it's being hustled. Its straight-line cruising stability is also exceptional under most circumstances. The fingertip feel through the power assisted rack and pinion steering is beautifully smooth and well damped. The powerful four wheel disc brakes (with standard ABS) feel good as the braking performance of an everyday family sedan. The braking efficiency is improved with the addition of EBD, which prevents tyre lock when braking. EBD uses sensors to determine which wheels would provide maximum braking for the conditions and applies different braking pressure to each wheel in order to maximize stopping power.
